Ashland Progress
Mrs. Fannie Pettus, one of the very oldest residents of the county died at the 
home of her son, A. L. Pettus, at Pyriton, Thursday December 31. She was 93 years 
and 4 months old and had been a resident of the territory now comprised in Clay 
County all her long life, although she was born some 30 years before Clay County 
was formed. Seven of her children survive her, three sons ad four daughters. She 
was buried Friday, January 1st, at Concord cemetery, the. funeral service being 
conducted by Rev. S. J. Ingram and Rev. H. L. Ray.
