L. Pettus, age 63, died at his home in Pyriton early Tuesday morning. Mr. Pettus was born and reared about four miles north of Lineville. He had been the rural mail carrier on Route 1, Pyriton for more than 33 years, with the exception of a transfer to Millerville for two years. The deceased was a member of the Concord Baptist church, at which place funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock conducted by Rev. H. L. Ray of Birmingham, assisted by Revs. Jesse F'. Ray, Cecil Ray, J. Ingram, W. R. Ingram, B. W. Mathews and C. B. Martin. Interment was in the Concord cemetery, Blair in charge. Besides his wife, the deceased is survived, by two daughters, Mrs. T. E. Tinney, of Birmingham, and Mrs. F. R. Phillips of Pyriton, and one son, A. L. Pettus, of Pyriton. Two sisters also survive, Mrs. Allen Sims of Ashland and Mrs. J. D. Sprayberry of Delta Active pallbearers were: J. D. Birchfield, Frank Allen, Bill White, A. L. Hardegree, Ira Stone and Dan Browning. Honorary pallbearers were: W. E. Carpenter, Dr. O. L. Dunn, M. W. Morgan, Staten Tate, Blake Robertson, Thos. G.
