Mr. James Phillips aged eighty-two years, Mr. Phillips was a native pf Morgan County, Georgia. He immigrated in 1834 to Coosa County, in this State where he resided till recently, he came to this County and lived with his son. The subject of this memoir was a soldier in the yar of 1812 with Great Britain. He served with distinction as a private under General Floyd, He was an honest, brave man the "noblest work of God." After the close of the war, Mr. Phillips returned to his home in Morgan County, Ga., and followed the peaceful occupation of agriculture. Though Mr. Phillips never embraced religion, he was a charitable man, if he heard of a calamity or misfortune in his neighborhood, James Phillips was the first to come to the aid of suffering humanity with all the means he could command. Additional Comments: Zachariah Phillips is buried at Bethlehem Cemetery Clay County. The location of his father's grave is unknown.
