Mr. Phillips had gone down to his barn and was stricken on his way back to the house and called to a grandson to come to his assistance. The deceased was a Randolph son by birth but moved to the Shady Grove (Clay County) community last fall. He was 63 years of age, a loyal and consistent member of the Shiloh (Delta) Primitive Baptist Church; a good father and husband. He had been married twice but both companions had preceded him to that land from whence no traveler returneth. The following children survive him Ida Philips, Doc Phillips, of Anniston, Lela Messer, Grady, Ethel Boyd, and his single daughter Helen Phillips. The remains were interred at Shiloh Primitive Church near Delta.
