E. Phillips, 66, well known farmer, who died early Thursday at his home near Providence church, were held at the Bethlehem church near Chandler Springs Saturday morning. Rev. J.W. Wade officiating. Rev. L. D. Patterson assisted. Interment was made in the church cemetery, Usrey in charge, The roof and walls of the church had been blown away, but benches were placed on the floor of the building and the service was held in the open. Mr. Phillips is survived by his widow, two sons, a daughter and an adopted daughter. Apr 13, 1932: We take this method of thanking our many friends and neighbors for their kindness shown us in the sudden death of darling husband and father. In a special way we thank Dr. Wren for his promptness in answering our call. We appreciate the beautiful floral offerings. Goodwater Enterprise Apr 07, 1932: The little cemetery at Bethlehem in Clay County has three fresh graves since the storm, all from the same family. Mrs. R. L. Quarles was killed in the storm and buried there on March 30th. The next morning her brother-in law, R.E. Phillips, who had attended her funeral was found dead in bed and on April 4th his son died and was buried there on Apr. 5th. Additional Comments: Death Cert: Name R. E.
