Ashland Progress
Rev. S. D. Phipps died at his home about six miles south of Ashland on Christmas 
Day, following a long illness. Funeral services were held at County Line on 
Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev. W. L. Sprayberry, assisted by Rev. H. T. 
Tapley. Interment was in the church cemetery, Blair directing. The deceased is 
survived by his wife, four sons, Dewey, Johnny and Sebron of Lanett, and Forest 
of Ashland, and three sisters, Mrs. C.L. Stewart of Ashland, Mrs. J. W. Reams of 
Goodwater, Rt, and Miss Alice Phipps of Winter Garden, Fla. Pallbearers were 
Dewey, Johnny, Sebron, Forest, Eugene and Oma Phipps.
