When he failed to return at the time he was expected, parties went out to find him, and found him dead and lying in the burning woods with his body charred. The deceased had, for some time, been conscious of a health affection, and it is supposed he suffered a heart attack which caused him to fall into the fire. Funeral services were held Sunday, March 1st at 2 P.M. at Campbell Springs Church, with Rev. Frank Timberman and Rev. Mansel Carpenter officiating. Blair directed and interment was in Campbell Spring cemetery. Mr. Pittard is survived by his wife, of Pyriton; one son, Robert Pittard, Ashland; 3 granddaughters and one grandson. A brother, J. B. Pittard, Shawmut; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Caldwell, Cragford; Mrs. Norma Littleton, Opelika. Pallbearers were Carl Finch, Byron Finch, Homer Patterson, Travis Patterson, Charlie Campbell and Otho Atkinson.
