R. Pittard, who died at his home in Opelika Friday night, was brought to Clay County, his old home, and buried in the County Line cemetery Sunday afternoon. He suffered a stroke of paralysis on Monday next preceding his death after which he never spoke again. Mr. Pittard was well known in Clay County where he spent the greater part of his life. He was for quite a while connected with the sheriff's office in this county as chief deputy. For several years prior to his death, he held a federal appointment as U. S. Deputy Marshal, with his residence in Opelika. He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters. Additional Comments: Death Cert: Name E.R.
