Ashland Progress
Mrs. Julia Poe passed away in Clay County Hospital on Sunday morning, April 3rd, 
where she had been receiving treatment for a week previous. Last rites were held 
at Macedonia Church on April 4th at 2 o'clock with Elder H. H. Goodman and Judge 
W. B. Nolen officiating and directed by Blair. Interment was in nearby cemetery. 
Active pallbearers were Grover Tomlin, Howard Tomlin, I. T. Snith, Nelson Poe, 
Jim Townsend, and Charlie Townsend. Honorary pallbearers were J. W. Sentell, 
Doyle Carpenter, Willie Roy Carpenter, Wilburn Pruet, Aaron Poe, Borden 
Townsend, and Lester Townsend. Miss Julie as she was familiarly known, had been 
commended through the years for the many worthwhile things she had done for 
suffering humanity in her more active years and was highly appreciated by those 
who knew her best. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. G. B. Tomlin, Opelika, 
and a number of other relatives.
