Rev. W. H. Preston died at his home at Barfield. Ala. He had been ill for about six months, so his death was not unexpected to his family and friends. The deceased was born March 25th, 1843, and departed this life Dec. 12th, 1918, He was married to Miss Lovie Rollins on July 19, 1863. He leaves surviving him his wife, two brothers, two sisters and a host of relatives and friends. He joined the Baptist church at Mt. Moriah at the age of twenty, was ordained to the ministry, when quite a young man, and lived a devoted Christian. He joined the Masonic Lodge at Wedowee, Ala., about forty-five years ago, was a charter member of Delta Lodge No. 459, and also a charter, member of Barfield Lodge No, 784 of which he was a member at his death. He was a great lover of masonry; He worked as faithfully for our lodge as any member of the lodge. We feel that we have lost one of our best members, and that our loss is Heaven's gain. He will be greatly missed in the lodge, not only in the lodge, but in the church, Sunday school and the community, at large. God in his wisdom saw fit to remove this worthy brother from us. The relation held by him with the members of our lodge makes it fitting to record our appreciation of him. Resolved, (1) the wisdom he exercised in aid of our work, and the funds he gave to help build the lodge, will be held in grateful remembrance. Resolved, (2) that we express our heartfelt regret that we are to lose him from membership. We deeply sympathize with the bereaved wife and family of the deceased. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh, blessed be the name of the Lord. Resolved, (3) that a copy of this obituary be seat to The Headlight for publication, and a copy sent to the widow of the deceased, and a copy be recorded on the secretary's book of Barfield lodge No. 784 A. F. and A. M. Geo. C. Garrett, P.M. Cole, W. J. Ingram, Committee.
