M. Preston of Delta were held Friday afternoon at Delta Baptist Church, with the Rev. W. E. Wellborn and the Rev. W. R. Ingram officiated. Burial was in Delta Cemetery, with Blair in charge. Mrs. Preston, one of the best known and most beloved matrons of the Delta area, was stricken Thursday morning. She is survived by her husband: one daughter, Mrs. Tillman Stephens, two granddaughters, Misses Ann and Mary Catherine Stephens of Heflin: five brothers John G. Whitley of Titusville, Fla.; Rufus Whitely of Odenville; Herbert Whitley of Bainbridge: Russell Whitley of Blue Mountain; Hubert Whitley of Gadsden: four sisters. Mrs. Robert Miller, Lakeland. Fla.; Mrs. Clara Noell of Anniston: Mrs. Effie Harwell of Ashland; Mrs. Bertha Miller, Opelika. Pallbearers were: D. Forbus, John Floyd McCullough, Stafford Cook, Hoyt Evans, Heston Dial and Hartford Sims.
