Ashland Progress
Killing Occurred Near Cragford Tuesday Night Zelos Price, son of Billy King 
Price, a citizen of the Pine Grove Community, Clay County was killed Tuesday 
night in Randolph County near Cragford by a man named Dewey Kelley according to 
reports. The cause of the killing was not learned. Kelley gave up to the Randolph 
County officers. The body of Price was brought to Ashland by Nolen Bros, and 
prepared for burial which will take place at New Harmony today.

Wedowee, July 31. The fall term of circuit court closed here last Saturday. An 
unusual number of murder cases was on the docket. These consumed the greater 
part of the week and drew large crowds. Gaither Stephens, charged with the 
killing of his cousin, also by the name of Stephens, was discharged; Dewey 
Kelly, charged with killing a young man by the name of Zealus Price, plead 
guilty of manslaughter arid was given a sentence of 10 years; Charles Seymour 
was given a sentence of 1 year and a day for killing John West; Charles Terry, 
charged with killing Sam Bowling, was given 10 years, and Hubert Hutcheson was 
given a term of five years.
