M. Proctor winged its way back to the Father who gave it Mr. Proctor was sick for only three days, and his going was a shock to his relatives and friends. He was born in Forsyth, and his parents died when he was a small child. He came to Clay from Talladega County about 30 years ago. He was 78 years of age at the time of his death. He was married to Ella Harmon 65 years ago on August 5. To this union were born 11 children, all of whom are living and were present at his death. There are also 35 grandchildren and 6 greatgrandchildren living. He was one of the oldest members of Olive Branch Baptist church. He was a loyal member and for many years had taught the Adult Bible Class. He had been the music leaded since the church was established in 1915. He was always ready to help in any cause for the upbuilding of his church and community. He was a great lover of music and had taught a number of singing schools in Clay County. He also composed a number of songs. He was a devoted husband and father and always looked forward to the visits of his children to his home. Funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. Cecil Harrington, assisted by the Reverends W. Mathews, W. M. Garrett. S. J. Ingram and Judge E. J. Garrison. All spoke highly of the life of the deceased. The large crowd which at tended the funeral and the beautiful floral offerings showed the esteem in which he was held. The six sons acted as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were: C. M. Pruet, E. P. Elliott, W. E. Carpenter, J. J. Clark, J. P. McCain, R. D. Bur roughs, J. P. Elliott and C. C. Rogers. Blair was in charge.
