Ashland Progress
MRS. ELLA PROCTOR spent the most of her life until about 10 years ago, living 
with her children these past few years She was a member of the Olive Branch 
Baptist Church at the time of her death, where with her husband, W. M. Proctor, 
who preceded her in death 12 years ago, were charter members, and faithful 
workers through the many years that followed. Despite her declining health for 
the past few years, her cheerful disposition gave assurance and comfort to all 
with whom she came in contact. Her body was brought back Olive Branch Church 
where funeral services were held June 22nd and by her request were followed 
accordingly, conducted by Rev. B. W. Mathews, Rev. G. W. Gregg and Rev. Earl 
Potts, Birmingham Johnson Co. Langdale directing, assisted by Blair. The choir 
was directed by J. Runyan and Mrs. R. E. Burt, pianist, singing Precious 
Memories, When They Ring Those Golden Bells. Mr. Runyan sang solo, Beyond The 
Sunset. Surviving are four sons; W. A. Proctor, Lineville; Dewey and Henry 
Proctor, Macon, Wilson Proctor, Sylacauga; five, daughters, Mrs. Maude Shaddix, 
Bessemer, Mrs. S. J. Ingram, Talladega; Mrs. E. H. Elliott, Lanett; Mrs. N. F. 
Davis, Shawmut; Mrs. Leo Haynes, Birmingham. Forty grandchildren, nineteen great 
grandchildren and one great, great grandchild; and a host of other relatives. 
Two sons, Charles and Edward preceded her in death. Active pallbearers were 
grandsons, William Haynes, Bobby Elliott, Milford Elliott, William Proctor, 
Henry Proctor James Proctor, J. W. Proctor, Lester Proctor, Milton Casey and J. 
B. Casey. Honorary pallbearers were W. E. Carpenter, R. W. Mellon, C. C. Rogers, 
Joe Burroughs, J. P. Elliott, E. P. Elliott, J. P. McCain, H. L. McCain, C. M. 
Pruet, J. J. Clark, J. E. Moon, and J. G. Elliott.
