She was married to Jasper Pruet on the 4th day of April 1861, and to them were born 12 children 9 boys and 3 girls. All the children are living except 2 boys and 1 girl. Her husband preceded her to the grave several years. She joined the Primitive Baptist church at Darien, Randolph County, Alabama, in early life and after she and her husband moved to what is now Clay County, Alabama, she moved her membership to Mt. Zion Baptist church where she was a faithful and consistent member for more than 50 years, until her death. She was buried at Mt. Zion church, where she had been a member so long, in the presence of a large concourse of people. The funeral service was conducted by the writer, assisted by Elders H.G. Harris and J. N. Parsons. She was a devoted wife, a good mother, a most excellent neighbor, and a consecrated Christian, always doing what she could for the wellbeing of humanity and the glory of God. She read the Bible a great deal and always earnestly contended for the faith, and in her conduct exemplified the spirit of the Master. She was patient in her afflictions, and realizing that death was approaching, she expressed herself willing and ready to go, and met death with Christian fortitude and unfaltering faith. She will be greatly missed, but she has entered into the rest that remained to the people of God. It can truly be said of her "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them". S.
