D. Rainwater age ,79 years, 9 months and 6 days, passed away at his home in the Pole Bridge community Thursday morning, Aug. 19, at 3 o'clock. He had been failing in health for quite a while, but his fatal illness was of only about two weeks duration. Mr. Rainwater was one of the county's pioneer citizens, having resided in the same community most all his life. He was the father of 12 children, five of whom, with their mother, survive him. Those living are J. E. Rainwater of Bon Air, Mrs. J. H. Mayo, of Talladega, Mrs. Florence Prickett, of Coleta, W. U. Rainwater and Mrs. Grizzle of Millerville. The funeral service was held Friday morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. S. J. Ingram and the remains were laid to rest in the Pole Bridge cemetery. Additional Comments: 1932 Ashland Progress: The Pole Bridge church and the Bethlehem church were each leveled to the ground and at Pole Bridge marble monuments and tombstones were lifted and hurled out of the graveyard.
