Ashland Progress
Funeral services for William Emerson Roberts, 58, were held Wednesday, Oct. 28, 
at the Concord Church with Rev. Dee Hurst and Rev. Elom Mattox officiating with 
Blair in charge. Burial was in adjoining cemetery. Mr. Roberts had been in bad 
health for sometime and was reported to have shot and killed himself at his home 
at Pyriton. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lizzie Roberts, two daughters, Alma 
and Annie Pearl; one son, Willie E. Roberts and four brothers. Pallbearers were 
Samson Sprayberry, Homer Thompson, James Pogue, W. O. Watts, Pete Lett and Grady 
Sims.
