Ashland Progress
Final rites were held for Mr. John William Royal at New Prospect Church on 
January 11th at two p.m. Elder Guy and Rev. Ernest Knight officiated. Interment 
in nearby cemetery. Mr. Royal passed on January 8th at the home of his son at the 
age of seventy-two. He is survived by his wife, five sons, N. W. M. Griffin, Bob 
and N.L. Goodwater, four daughters, Mrs. Mattie Lou Phillips, Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. 
Alene Holmes, Gants Quarry; Mrs. Berna Grogan, Talladega; Mrs. Dorothy Peoples, 
Goodwater Rt. Pallbearers were William Burnett, Dallas Young, W.L. Prickett, 
Ardine Barrett, Alvin Kelly, L. D. Grogan.
