Funeral services were held at Providence, to Clay County, Wednesday for Mrs. J. 
W. Salers, aged 78, who died Monday afternoon after a long illness Mrs. Salers 
had spent most of her life in the community and was a member of the Methodist 
Church of Providence. She is survived by four sons John and Lee Salers of 
Mississippi; Otis, of Delta, and Edward, of Boaz; one daughter, Mrs. A. C. Haynes 
of Delta. and several grandchildren. Pallbearers were Ike, Carvel and Adelle 
Haynes, Joe Marlon Salers, Johnny Sprayberry and Excel Miller.
