Rev. Jas. A. Shadix. Brother Shadix was born May the 3rd. 1833. He joined the Baptist church and entered the ministry at the age of 19 years He made an able, minister and was consecrated to the work of his master. He was married to Miss Mary Clark in 1858, to which union several children were born to bless their home, and after the death of his first wife, he was married to Miss Jane Young, to which union were born several children. His second wife died in July 1915. For several years prior to his death Brother Shadix was blind and had to be carried wherever he went. He was visiting his children in Texas when death claimed him. He died May the 1st 1916. Therefore, be it resolved: That in the death of Brother Shadix, Hardy-Howle Lodge No. 459 A. P. & A- M. has lost one of its charter members, one who was devoted to the order and exemplified its teachings in his life and acts, and that the church and ministry have lost one of its most devoted and. beloved members, and the community one of its most useful and best citizens. 2nd. That we hereby tender our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved children and loved ones. We commend them to him who doeth all things well, and we earnestly pray that he will keep and guide them in the straight and narrow way that will lead them to that Home where their Father waits for them, and there may we all join him in that home where trouble, sorrow and death can never come, then we can say, Oh grave where is thy victory, oh death where thy sting is. 3rd. We ask this to be published in The Headlight and a copy be furnished the bereaved children, also that it be spread upon the minutes of the Lodge. Respectfully H. C. Willingham. S. L. McCollough, I.
