Shaddix. 52, Oxford. Rt. 7. was fatally injured in an accident Wednesday afternoon at Anniston Army Depot where he was employed as a combat vehicle mechanic. The Public Information Office at AAD reports that the accident occurred at approximately 3 p.m. when Shaddix and a fellow employe were checking an armored personnel carrier on the installation's maintenance test track prior to shipment. The Information Office says that apparently the vehicle overturned, throwing the victim to the ground. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the AAD main dispensary. The driver of the APC was uninjured. AAD spokesmen say that they do not know where Shaddix was riding on the behicle or whether the cause of death has been established...... Clifton Lee Shaddix. 52. of Rt. 7, Oxford, died Wednesday at Anniston Army Depot. Funeral services were today at 2 p.m. at the Mineral Springs Methodist Church with the Rev. James Duke and the Rev. Charles Stroud officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers were Dennie Cofield, Junior Lipham, Guy Fuller, Allen Chitwood. Randy Shaddix, and Henry C. Shaddix Jr. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Ann Shaddix. Oxford; three daughters, Mrs. Jimmy Dingier, Rt. 1, Delta, Mrs. Butch Hazle, and Miss Julia Faye Shaddix, both of Oxford; a son, James Gifton Shaddix of Lineville; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Shaddix, Lineville; a brother, Henry Clifford Shaddix, Dawsonville, Ga., two grandchildren. Mr. Shaddix was a native of Clay County and a resident of Calhoun County for the past 20, years. He was an employe of Anniston Army Depot, veteran of World War II and a member of the Bynum Methodist Church.
