Anniston Star
Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock this afternoon for William Joseph 
Shaddix 79, of 1728 W 11th St., who died on Saturday after an illness of several 
months Mr. Shaddix a retired farmer, was former resident of Clay County. He had 
lived in this city for four years., He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Julia 
Shaddix; two sons. Homer and Albert of Anniston, two daughters, Mrs. Cassie 
Hill, Anniston; and Mrs. Vida Deese, Delta, Ala.; and 20 grandchildren, 25 
great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. The service was held at 
Union Church in Clay County with William B. Kughn, minister, officiating. Active 
pallbearers were Ewell Milam, Glenn Tyree, Hulan Clark, Cleveland Haynes, Buford 
Haynes and Jim Dempsey. Honorary pallbearers were O. C. Clark, Velo Gregg. S. V. 
Higginbotham, Robert Pritchett, Nathaniel Gann, A. B. Cofield and Dr. James 
Meigs.
