Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at his home church, Macedonia Primitive Baptist, near Ashland, with his pastor, Elder Bruce Finley officiating. W. S. Bishop of Lanett was in charge of the singing. Burial was in the ad-1 joining cemetery with Usery of Talladega in charge. Active pallbearers were grandsons: Graham Shaddix, Harry Shaddix, Bob Bailey, Huey W. Jordan, Howard Bishop, and Cooper David Shaddix. Honorary pallbearers were: Dr. Gus Clovin, Doyle Carpenter, Grover Hampton, George House, William Carpenter, C. T. White, Garret Carpenter, C. M. Pruett, A. J. Moseley, K. J. White, G. W. Carpenter, Jim Cain, Willie Roy Carpenter, Milton Hornsby and C. Smith. Flower girls were granddaughters assisted by Mrs. J. L. Wilbanks and Mrs. George House. Elder Shaddix suffered a stroke five days prior to his death. He was born October 17,1860. He was married to Susanna Sorrell April 8, 1881. To this union ten children were born. Eight of whom lived to attend his funeral Sunday. Namely: R. W. Shaddix, Talladega; Dr. M. L. Shaddix, Gadsden; John Shaddix, Eastaboga; Mrs. M. E. Bishop, Lincoln; Mrs. O. L. Bishop, Alex City; Mrs. J. C. Bailey, Wadley; and Misses Addie and Cornola Shaddix, Lincoln.
