Ashland Progress
Mrs. Susan Ann Shaddix, wife of Elder M. Shaddix, died at her home in Lincoln 
early Tuesday afternoon. Before removing to Talladega County, the deceased 
resided in this county in the Macedonia community, at which place funeral 
services and burial will take place this afternoon at 1:30. Elder H. H. Goodman 
will officiate with Elder B. B. Finley of Goodwater assisting. Usrey of 
Talladega will be in charge. Besides the husband the deceased is survived by 
three sons, R. W. Shaddix of Talladega; Dr. M. L. Shaddix of Ashland and John L. 
Shaddix of Lincoln; five daughters, Mrs. M. E. Bishop, Misses Addie and Conola 
of Lincoln, Mrs. O. L. Bishop of Alexander City, and Mrs. J. C. Bailey of 
Wadley; 28 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be 
Graham Shaddix, Harry Shaddix, Fritz Shaddix, Marion Bishop, John Bailey, and 
Lyman Grogan. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Gus Colvin, W. O. Pittard, E. S. 
Pace, H. H. Canada, A. B. Laney, F. C. White, Clayton Chappelle, Calvin Jenks, 
W. E. Carpenter, Cicero Smith, Doyle Carpenter, Gus McGlon, I. N. White, Gus 
Finley, Wesley Sparks, E. G. Carpenter, A. J. Turner and W. J. Pierce.
