Ashland Progress
Funeral services for Mrs. Effie Shirey, 68 years, were held last Saturday morning 
at Concord Church. Rev. S. C. Ray conducted with Blair directing. Mrs. Shirey 
died at her home in Pyriton Thursday afternoon. Sho joined Concord Church when a 
young girl. She was married 52 years ago. Surviving are one son and six 
daughters, 20 grandchildren and five great grandchildren, two brothers and one 
sister. Pali Bearers were Earnest Hudgins, V. T. Harden, Frank Harden, Eugene 
Chapman, Woodie East, and Hubert East. Flower Girls were Annie Pearl Roberts, 
Alma Jean Shirey, Jacqueline Harden, Lucille East, Berta Haynes, and Sara Nell 
East.
