Ashland Progress
Funeral rites fer Mrs. J. W Shirey were held at Spring Hill Baptist Church on 
June 22, conducted by Rev. Hollis Horn and Rev. G. H. Fuller of Talladega. 
Interment was in Fairview Cemetery, directed by Blair Funeral Directors. 
Pallbearers were grandsons, Ralph Milstead William Milstead, James Brewer, Drexel 
Robinson, Robert Rogers and Calvin Jones. Mrs. Shirey passed away in Carraway 
Methodist Hospital in Bham on June 20th at the age of 74. She was a member of 
Bowden Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. A. M. Milstead 
and Mrs. E. O. Watts, Talladega Rt. One son, Fred Shirey, Ashland Rt. Four 
brothers, one sister, ten grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.
