Brother Sims was born October 1st, 1845, in Chambers County. Alabama, moved to Clay [Randolph] County and was married to Miss Sarah Crane in 1861. To this union nine children, five boys and four girls, were born, seven of whom are living. His wife died some two years ago. Brother Sims joined the Baptist church at Mt. Olive in the year 1863 and remained a most devoted member until his death. He served three years and six months in the Civil War. He joined the Masons in 1869 and was master of Hardy-Howie Lodge at Delta for a number of years. He was termed one of the brightest Masons in this part of the State. Brother Sims departed this life at his residence four miles west of Delta on October 31st, 1916. Therefore, be it resolved 1st; That in the death of Bro. Sims, Hardy-Howle Lodge suffered a great loss, missing his words of counsel and ready knowledge of the working of the order. He was indeed a true Mason in every sense of the word; he was also a loving husband and truly devoted father. The church has lost one of its best members, the community one of its oldest and most upright citizens. But we bow in humble submission to the will of. our supreme master and say, "Thy will be done." 2nd. That we hereby extend our sympathy to the bereaved children and say to them that their loss though hard to bear, is His eternal gain, and let his life be an example for you, so when life is o'er you may as Father did look back over a life well spent and go home where Father and Mother are. without the loss of a one. 3rd. That this be published in the Lineville Headlight and be spread upon the minutes of the Lodge. Respectfully. H. C. Willingham, S. L. McCollough, I. H.
