Anniston Star
Mrs. Matilda M. Smith, 99, of Delta. Rt 1, died last night at the Anniston 
Nursing Home after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at the Shiloh 
Delta Baptist Church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Revs. Ben Mathis and 
B. B. Finley will officiate, and burial will be in the adjacent cemetery, Gray 
Brown-Service Mortuary directing arrangements. Survivors include four sons, D. 
L. Smith of Boaz. R. J. Smith of Anniston, Jeff Smith of Carrollton, Ga., and 
Cleve Smith of Delta; one daughter, Mrs. Frances Medders of Wellington, Rt. 1; 
28 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. 
Pallbearers will be Brenton, Harwell, John A., Wallace, Samford and Braxton 
Smith. A native of Randolph County, Mrs. Smith was a member of the Center West 
Baptist Church She was a lifelong resident of Randolph County and the widow of 
William T. Smith.
