Ashland Progress
L.W. Smith, aged citizen of the Union community, died at his home last Wednesday 
following a long illness. He was 75 years of age and is survived by three sons, 
four daughters, 20 grandchildren, one step-grandson, 15 great-grandchildren, five 
sisters and one brother. Funeral services were held at Union Church last Friday, 
conducted by Rev. J. W. Welborn, after which the remains were interred in the 
Union cemetery, Blair directing. Pallbearers were Gene, Bus and Bud Roberts and 
Freddie, Ollie and Jordan Hurst.
