Anniston Star
John Willie Smith, 70, died suddenly at his residence at 121 Thomason in Oxford 
Monday at 8:30 p.m. He was a member of Woodman of the World and had resided in 
Calhoun County for the past four years, having come from Delta. Funeral services 
will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Delta Baptist Church in Shiloh 
with burial in the adjoining cemetery. The Revs. D. W. Burton and Horace 
Homesley will officiate and Usrey will direct the services. Survivors include 
the widow, Cora Smith, one daughter, Mrs. Cain of Anniston; one son, H. B. Smith 
of Cartersville, his mother, Mrs. Matilda Smith of Anniston; four brothers, 
Daniel of Boaz, Riley of Anniston, Jeff of Carrollton, and Cleve of Delta; one 
sister, Mrs. Luther Medders of Alexandria; three grandchildren and two 
greatgrandchildren.
