His many friends in the old hometown extend sympathy to the bereaved. It was a privilege of this writer to talk with Mr. Smith about ten P.M. the night of his death and he was seemingly in the best of health and spirit. No doubt we were the last friends except the family to hold a conversation. We were indeed shocked next day to learn of sudden demise. This writer extends sympathy. Editor.
