M. Sparks died Sunday at the home of her son, W. E. Sparks. Had she lived till October she would have been 82 years of age. Mrs. Sparks was a member of one of Clay county's largest families and she was born and reared in the Shiloh community and lived there practically all her long life. She is survived by her husband, 7 sons, 3 daughters, 54 grandchildren and 82 great-grandchildren. Her sons are: W. E. R. J. D. W. and E. U. Sparks, all of Clay County, T. G. Sparks of Opp, and W. B. Sparks, of Sylacauga. Her daughters are, Mrs. W.R. Wallace, of Lanette; Mrs. E. M. Carwile, of Wadley, and Mrs. A. L. Joiner of Haynes, Alabama. After leaving the old homestead about four years ago on account of failing health, she had been making her home with her children. She was buried at Shiloh Monday, August 5, in the presence of a large congregation of relatives and friends.
