Anniston Star
James M. Spears, 71. a life-time resident of Delta, died at his home at Delta, 
Rt. 1, Saturday night after several days illness. Services were held this morning 
at 11 o'clock at Shiloh Church, with the Rev. Mr. Bean and the Rev. B. B. Findley 
officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. Colonial in charge. Mr. Spears 
is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ellen Spears; four daughters, Mrs. E. B. Taylor of 
Dutton. Mrs. R. L. Cobb of Anniston, Mrs. Ralph Bailey of Wedowee, and Mrs. H. G. 
Pearson of Birmingham: three sons, Grady Spears of Dutton, Arlin and Ezra Spears 
of Delta; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Grandchildren will 
serve as pallbearers.
