Speer, president of the Bankers Mortgage Building St Loan Company and receiver for the Bankers Mortgage Bond Company, died Tuesday afternoon at his office, 2125 Third Avenue, North. Funeral services were held at the residence at 110 Stratford Road, Hollywood, at 9 a. m. Wednesday, after which the body was sent to Lineville, where Mr. Speer was born 40 years ago, for the burial by Lige Loy. Mr. Speer had lived in. Birmingham, 10 years. He was a member of the Highlands Methodist, church. Survivors are his wife, nee Lula C. Appleton, Fort Payne; a son, Blake a daughter, Betty Ann, and two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Roberts, Gold Hill, and Mrs. Jessie Chambers, Clinton, S. C. Active pallbearers were Harold Henderson, James Bryan, Harold Harper, C. E. Binion, Bingham Ballard and Robert E. Odell. Honorary pallbearers were A. A. Adams, L. E. Adams, I. F. Fabian, J.A. Norman, F. H. Mohns, B. L. Hinkle, A. Leo Oberdorfer, W. S. Pritchard, W. H. Woolverton, Dr. L. G. Woodson and Paul Angell.
