Our Mountain Home
Wallace Spencer, a fourteen-year-old boy, who resides near Hollins, Clay County, 
was kicked to death last week. He unhitched the mule he was plowing and mounted 
him. The mule became frightened and threw the boy, who got tangled in the gear 
and was dragged for half a mile, and kicked at every jump, and then, already 
dead, was thrown against a tree and had his brains dashed out on the ground.
