Sprayberry, 76, of Delta were today at Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Clay County with the Rev. Wiley Sprayberry, the Rev. Bill Mitchell and the Rev. W.E; Summerlin officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Lineville in charge. Mr. Sprayberry died Saturday in Gay County Hospital after a short illness. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lona Sprayberry; three daughters, Mrs. Geneva Taylor and Mrs. Flossie Lazar, both of Greenville, S.C., and Mrs. Nell Gilberson of Easley, S.C., five sons, Garett Sprayberry of Lineville, Braxton Sprayberry of Heflin, Dean Sprayberry of Wedowee, Jimmy Sprayberry of Tucson Arz., and Fred Sprayberry of Birmingham; a sister, Mrs. Coleman Shaddix of Anniston; a brother, Walter Sprayberry of Jasper; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Mary Wolf of Ashland and Mrs. Amanda Harris of Birmingham; four stepsons, Milton Burch of Elba, James Burch of the U.S. Army, Gary W. Burch and Joel Burch, both of Birmingham; 25 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. Mr. Sprayberry was a native of Clay County and a retired farmer. He was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church.
