Anniston Star
In the sudden passing of the Rev. W. L. Sprayberry Sunday afternoon while 
officiating at the funeral of Mr. Garland Luker at Mt Moriah Church in Delta. Mt 
Moriah and neighboring committees lost another of their most dependable, loyal, 
best friends. A noble Christian character, a good neighbor to all, far and near, 
Joe did his best at all laboring so faithfully for the betterment of recently he 
had attended church services and visited the sick and needy when physically 
unable. He spent his life in the community where he died and will be sorely 
missed by his many friends and loved ones. Sincerest sympathy to his devoted 
companion, dear children and host of bereaved ones.
Profound sympathy Is also extended the host of bereaved ones in the death, of 
Mr. Garland Luker. His wife (formerly Miss Effie Stephens) was partly reared 
here, loved by all who knew her, and daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Obe 
Stephens.
