Anniston Star
Funeral services for Evans Alexander Stansell died at his residence at Delta 
were conducted Friday afternoon at the Union Baptist Church, in Clay County, the 
Revs. W. L. Sprayberry, O.S. Diggs and G.C. Shaddix officiating.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Jones in charge. Mr. Stansell was born 
in Marshall County and married Miss Iona Utopia Hembree in 1877. He joined the 
Missionary Baptist Church at the age of 17, and has been aa outstanding member, 
of the Union Baptist Church since 1891. He was active in church work until 
recent years when he was confined because of ill health. His wife died in 1917 
and a son James Arthur Stansell, died in 1885. He is survived by a daughter Mrs. 
Sarah Alice Shaddix of Anniston, a son Robert L. Stansell of Delta. Three 
grandsons Cpl. Sardis A. Shaddix serving with the Marines overseas, Emory F. 
Shaddox of Anniston and Evans L. Stansell of Delta. Three great-grandchildren.
