News reached here early Thursday morning of the death of Mr. W. D. Steed which 
occurred Lineville Wednesday evening at 5 o'clock. The departed had been 
afflicted for some time with a chronic disease not a surprise to those who knew 
of his very bad state of health. The deceased leaves a devoted companion, eight 
children and a large number of friends to mourn his loss. Mr. Steed was about 67 
years of age at the of his death, and was the father of Co. C. A. Steed, of our 
town. Notwithstanding his great sufferings the hat few days of his life, he bore 
his afflictions without a mummer and the day before death came to case him of 
his pains on earth, and after he had planned to his children how he wished his 
business wound up, he expressed his willingness to go to cross the river with 
the that a crown awaited him on the other side. His remains were intered a 2 
p.m. yesterday in the Baptist cemetery at Lineville. To the bereaved family the 
Advocate extends hearty sympathies.
