Dr. A. R. Stephens of Delta passed away peacefully at his home Friday evening at 
7 :40 P. M., and was laid to rest in the family cemetery, near his home, Sunday, 
May 11th. Funeral services for the deceased were conducted by Rev. W. L. Spray-
berry, assisted by Revs. D. W. Burson, B. W. Mathews and Barnett Moore with 
Jones Funeral Service directing. The Masonic and I. O. O. F. fraternities 
conducted the funeral services. He had been a practicing physician in that 
locality nearly 63 years. He is survived by several nieces and nephews, and a 
host of friends who mourn his passing. Pallbearers were George Miller, Ocie 
Warren, Grady Harris, John Floyd McCullough, Albert Sprayberry and George Motes.

Anniston Star:
Dr. Albert R. Stephens of Delta, 89, who during his lifetime delivered 5,166 
babies, 30 of which were reported twins and several sets of triplets, died 
Friday night at 7:40 o'clock at his residence. Funeral services will be held 
this afternoon at 3 o'clock with the Rev. Will Sprayberry officiating at the 
Delta Baptist Church. Burial will be in Delta Cemetery with the Masons in charge 
of the graveside service. Dr. Stephens is survived by a number of nieces and 
nephews. He has practiced medicine in Clay County for 63 years up until he 
became ill in March of this year. Living in the same community all his life, he 
died in the same house which he was born. Jones Funeral Home is in charge of all 
arrangements.
