Ashland Progress
Mrs. Mackaly Stephens died Thursday, June 2, at the age of 92 years, one month 
and 27 days. She was born in South Carolina on April 9th, 1818; married to 
Malachi Stephens in 1845 and moved to Alabama 1848. Her husband served in the 
army and died a few months before the surrender. She was the mother of eight 
children, six of whom survive her. She was in feeble health for several years, 
and a few weeks before her death her suffering became more severe when death 
relieved her. Her body was laid to rest in the Chapel cemetery Friday morning. 
The funeral service was conducted by Rev. W.M. Worthy. We extend our sympathy to 
the bereaved relatives and commend them to the mercies of God for consolation.

Daughter Rachel Stephen-Griffin death cert states her mother as: Mahaley Enloe.
