Stewart, 80, died at his home in Ashland on Thursday. May 21st. Although he had been in failing health for the past three years his sudden passing was a shock to his many friends in Ashland and Lineville where he had spent the greater part of his life only having moved to Ashland last July. To know him was to love him and he had already established himself in the hearts of many people in the town of Ashland. He was known and loved all over the county. This fact was borne out by the beautiful floral offerings and many kind deeds of his friends and neighbors. Funeral services were held at Providence Church Friday at 3:00 P. M. with Elders B.B. Finley and H.H. Goodman, and Rev. Webb Brooks conducting the services. Pallbearers were grandsons: Claude Merrill, Thomas Seagle, Guy Cofield, Baron Cofield, Talmadge East and Pat King. Flower girls were Mrs. Pat King, Mrs. Thomas Seagle, Mrs. Talmadge East, Mrs. Glenn Rogers, Mrs. Glynn Bennett, Mrs. Bo Thomas, Misses Beth and Mary Ballard, Miss Lavern Stewart, Mrs. James Mitchell. Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hallie Stewart; three sons, Pelham Stewart, Tifton, Truitt Stewart, Darien, Vernon Stewart, Columbus, six daughters, Mrs. Roy Merrill, Bow-don, Mrs. William Cofield, Lineville; Mrs. Vergie White, Ashland; Mrs. Dilford Gaither, Ashland; Mrs. Alton Ballard, Columbus, and Mrs. Malvern Willis, Ashland. Those from out of town who at tended the funeral of Mr. Stewart were Mr. and Mrs. Lurline Hogan, Mrs. L. C. Lipham, Mr. S. C. Rowland, Mr. Perry Digby, Mr. and Mrs. Lodwich Mathews from Bowdon, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers and Mrs. Hendon from Wedowee; Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Yeager, Mr. and Mrs. I.A. Seagle and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Talmadge East and daughter of Anniston; Capt. and Mrs. Donald White and children from Dover, Delaware; Mr. Guy Cofield, Birmingham; Mrs. Glenn Rogers, Carrollton, Mr. and Mrs. Pat King, Mr. and Mrs. Porter Carpenter of Alexander City; Mr. and Mrs. James Mitchell, Lineville; Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Stewart and daughter Greenwood, S.
