She was a young lady of rare gifts. She was gifted in music both vocal and instrumental was modest, kind sweet spirited and loved by all knew her. She was the shine of the home and a leader among the young people. She had been organist in the church for a number of years. There is a vacant place in the community, in Center church and the home which can't be filled as Bertha filled it. Seven years ago she gave her heart to God and her life has been clear evidence that she was a Christian. He whom she served here and her greatest joy to sing praises of His holy name, saw fit to call her up on high where her love for music will grow and her use- fullness in singing become greater, and her frail body be changed for one of strength. Her greater joys here were only a foretaste of the real joys that are hers every day now. She leaves her parent two brothers and four sisters. Funeral services were conducted by the writer, assisted by F. J. Ingram. The great concourse of friends that attended this service bespoke their love and admiration for her. Her body was laid to rest in the city of the dead at Shiloh B. W. Mathews.
