Nov 15, 2002 http://www.americanpress.com/pastweek/docs/6fri/obits.html Samuel G. Russell LEESVILLE Samuel Gerald Russell, 65, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, in Leesville. He was a substitute for a rural mail route. He was helpful in caring for the family during sickness, and he was always there for them. He and his grandson liked to plant fruit trees at harvest time, and then they would go together and eat the fruit. Survivors include his wife, Nell Russell of Leesville; three sons, Steven Eric Russell and wife Vanessa of Atlanta, Jason Marcus Russell and wife Jensine of St. Louis, and Roy Allen Melancon and wife Nancy of San Antonio; one daughter, Rhonda Germann of Anacoco; one sister, Rhetta Russell of Tennessee; and two grandchildren, Mack Melancon of San Antonio and Kristian Germann of Anacoco. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, in First Baptist Church of Anacoco. The Rev. Duryl Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is 5-10 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. Saturday.
