R. Thompson, of Lineville, was drowned in the Coosa River rear Verbena last Friday. He was the employee of the Alabama Power Company and was at work with others at a raft. A wind arose and made it necessary for him to swim across a portion of the river perhaps when in some way. due to cramp, he was caught under the current and drowned before it was possible for any of his companions to rescue him. His body was brought to Lineville for interment and the funeral service was held Monday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. He was a brother of Mrs. Addie Gay of Ashland.
