Services for Ancil S. Thompson, 94, of Ashland will be today at 3 p.m. at the Ashland First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ellis Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Ashland City Cemetery with Brock Funeral Home in charge. The body will be at the funeral home until an hour before services. Mr. Thompson's son, Milton I. Thompson said his father owned the first T-model truck in the Clay County community and use it to haul freight around town from the Ashland depot. "Before he got the truck, he had delivered the freight in dray pulled by a big, red horse," he added. Mr. Thompson was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County. He was retired, having owned and operated Thompson Grocery in Ashland for 25 years. He served two terms on the Ashland City Council and was a member of the Ashland First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margie Horn Thompson of Ashland; two daughters, Mrs. Effie Mae Brill of Jackson, and Mrs. Edna Barker of Ashland; a son, Milton I. Thompson of Ashland; a brother, Homer Thompson of Ashland six grandchildren and six great- grand-children. Pallbearers will be Irving Thompson, Dean Barker, Morris Brill Jr., David Thompson, Alton T.
