J. T. Thrift member of the Motley Lodge No. 634. Bro. Thrift was born in Georgia, August 8, 1853. In his early youth his parents moved to Alabama where he lived the remainder of his life. Later in life he chose for his companion Miss Sarah Phillips. this union eight children were born, of which three of them died. God saw fit to take his devoted wife from him. So later he married Miss Necia Pursley, one child was added to the union. Bro. Thrift lived a little over God's promise to man, making his stay on earth seventy-four years and seven months. Bro. Thrift first joined the Mt. Eagle Masonic Lodge No. 185 at New Site, Alabama. He was initiated Jan. 26, 1895; passed June 22, 1895; raised July 21, 1895. In later years he moved his membership to Motley Masonic Lodge No. 634. He was always a loyal and faithful member until his death, March 30, 1927. Therefore, be it resolved. First: That we humbly bow in submission to the will of our Heavenly Father who doeth all things well. Second That we thank God for the. gift to the fraternity and to the community for such exemplary life as his has been clean and loyal to his fraternity. Third: That we as members of Motley Lodge No.634 extend to his family and loved ones our sincere sympathy in the hour of bereavement and commend them to the abounding grace of our Heavenly Father. Fourth: That a copy of these resolutions be sent to his family and also a copy be written on the minutes of the Motley Lodge No. 634. Committee H. L. Simpson, J. R. McGill, J. E. Simpson.
