Ashland Progress
The holidays were saddened for the Tidwell family of Motley due to the accidental 
death of one of its members. Claude Benjamin Tidwell, 44 years old, was riding in 
the back of a truck when he fell out, the truck running over him and killing him. 
The accident occurred late Wednesday afternoon, December 24, while he was on the 
way home from Ashland. Services were held Thursday afternoon at Union Chapel 
church with Rev. H. G. Birchfield conducting and Blair directing tire funeral. 
Nephews of Mr. Tidwell acted as pallbearers. They were Melvin Tidwell, Milton 
Tidwell, Talmadge Tidwell, Woodrow Tidwell, Harold Tidwell and Gene Tidwell. 
Surviving are his mother, three sisters and five brothers.
