Ashland Progress
John C. B. (Brack) Toland, 88, Ashland, died at his home Tuesday, May 1. Funeral 
services were held at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon at Big Springs Church 
where he was member. Rev. C. R. Harrington, pastor of file church, officiated. 
He was assisted by a life-long friend of the deceased, Rev. H. H. Goodman, and 
Dr. E. M. Causey. Interment was in the Mt. Arat Cemetery with Blair directing. 
Mr. Toland is survived by his wife, Orie Toland; one daughter, Mrs. J. M. Hamil, 
Langdale; and seven sons, James Toland, Ashland; C. C. Toland, Covini, Calif.; 
Hugh Toland, Springville; Thomas Toland, William Toland, Bunyan Toland, and 
Eugene Toland, all of Ashland. Other survivors include twenty-four grandchildren 
and twenty-five great grandchildren. Grandsons and great grandsons served as 
pallbearers. They were: Herbert Fargason, Jesso Hamil, Hugh Hill, Charles 
Toland, Hugo Hamil and Clark Hill. Honorary pallbearers were: R. J. Dick, Otto 
Gaither, K. J. White, W. L. Browning, D. H. White and E D. Riley.
