M. Denny a few miles east of Millerville, last Saturday night, it is believed that Emory Toland, a prominent young farmer of that neighborhood, is thought to be fatally wounded, seven bullets having been fired into bis body. Mal Patterson and Harvey Russell are charged with the shooting it being claimed that Russell was hidden behind a mule when he fired on Toland who was taken unaware. It is reported that the shooting it the result of bad feeling which has existed between the parties for several months. At last report neither of the parties had been arrested. Ashland Progress: A fatal shooting occurred on Saturday night at Henry Kennedy's near Bluff Spring, in which Emory Toland received several wounds, the most serious being from a bullet which entered the abdomen and lacerated the intestines. For several days he lingered between life and death and the end came yesterday morning. Mal Patterson and Harvey Russell are alleged to have done the shooting and have been lodged in jail on a charge of murder. Reports Concerning the particulars are meager and conflicting. The accused are both young unmarried men, as was also the deceased, and all belong to prominent families. Additional Comments: Emory Toland is buried at Mt. Ararat, Clay, County AL.
